Lamar Mustangs are State Champions

The Lamar Mustangs complete a championship season by scoring 13 fourth-quarter points to overcome a 7-0 first-half deficit.

The Mustangs played together as a team, with the defense holding Copperas Cove to 14 points, while the Lamar offense was led by Jacquizz Rodgers, who finished the night with 234 yards rushing on 32 attempts.

Quarterback DJ Smallwood contributed 105 yards on the ground.
